Hi. I'm the guy behind the keyboard

Before I get into the dry stuff, let's see if you can guess where I come from. Here are some hints:
  1. The city I was born and brought up in is the only town in the entire British Isles famous for insects.
  2. Hairy insects.
  3. Big, hairy insects.
  4. They sing, too!
  5. No? Then I'll narrow it down. The city is in England-- the Northwest of England.
  6. In Lancashire to be precise. (Of War of the Roses fame, which we Lancastrians won, by the way.)
  7. Still don't know? You didn't do too well in geography, popular culture or entomology studies, did you?

What I do

—In addition, I write non-byline pieces such as advertorials and custom content for newsletters, universities, corporations and websites, as well as rewrite and copyedit  a variety of documents.

Previously, I wrote a popular column called Computer Corner that ran weekly for 15 years in Japan's leading English Language newspaper The Japan Times, and my work appeared in a number of industry magazines now sadly defunct, including Electronic World News, Semiconductor Magazine and New York Stock Exchange Magazine. I also worked as  the Japan Editor for the451.com.
Killing Time in Tokyo starts as a slow-burn suspense crime thriller then ignites into a fast-paced page-turner that pulls you down twisting and turning into Japan's broiling underworld.

The Girl Who Danced Her Tears Away is a suspense crime thriller set in Japan. It introduces a feisty young heroine from Liverpool who aims to mete out her own form of justice rather than trusting in the law not to be an ass.
